This course features MIG180: a 180 Amps MIG Welder from PrimeWeld:

This machine is still hobby-friendly (and budget-friendly) but a major step-up in quality from wire-feed welders. The techniques that can be taught with this MIG welder are also more sophisticated.
The instructor, Jason Moore, is a seasoned welder who also plays drums in a local metal band and is always stretching his skills by taking on advanced projects requiring precision and special techniques.
Ctrl^H provides two welding hoods, one set of gloves, and an apron for participants - if you are serious about welding consider bringing your own hood to maximize chances that one is available for you. There are several welding supply stores in the area, and Harbor Freight on Mason St may sell them as well (you can always return if you change your mind).
For anyone not wearing a hood, the instructor will yell just before welding so you can look away or otherwise shield your eyes. You can also watch for when the instructor puts the hood down as a signal.
